Single Admin SaaS

This video covers the why and how to build and operate a one man SaaS.

  • You want to pick an idea that can generate enough income for one salary, and not necessarily produce payroll for an entire staff, and pay investors back
  • There’s lots of ideas that sit in this space, no startup or company will compete with you on this
  • SRE: Monitoring, alerting, and failing gracefully are important in a one admin show

Load testing

A quick crash course on how to approach and think about load testing as you build your products. Read more here

Local-first

I’ve been meaning to check out LiveStore, a SQLite-based data layer for local-first apps. When I get serious about building the goosebumps mobile client in react native, I’ll give this a swing! It’s in early access, and here’s a tutorial showing how it works.

For me

Some things I want to read this week.

  • Go through bluesky docs
    • Context here: I want to goosebumps.fm to pull in my posts from bluesky. I want to have an understanding of the capabilities of bluesky’s backend
  • An hour in Site Reliability Engineering
  • 30 min in Alex Ewerlöf - I can choose whatever is interesting at the time

Aside

Many weeks later, I’m still trying to get over Wes Bos saying RSS is dead. He’s not completely wrong, but it was painful to hear as someone who loves & uses RSS still. Do you use RSS?
